Joys of Moving & Saying Goodbye to Kenna

Where do I start..?

Let's see...This past Sunday, Marissa told me she was moving out on Monday (ONE day in advance), because her dad bought a second house and asked her if she wanted to live there for free. Our lease is up at the end of this month, BUT she had told me that she wanted to stay until the Spring, when I was planning on making my move back to California. The whole reason I'm staying here right now, is to SAVE money. Sure, I can pay for rent and all the other bills on my own, but I won't be able to save anything. Heck! I wouldn't even have a life. I realized I had one of two choices...move back to California or try to find a roommate in ONE week. I called my best friend, Becca, to vent about it cause I was pretty much having a nervous breakdown :( She told me I should go live with her and her family at her new house. There's 5 bedrooms and the larger bedroom in the basement wasn't being used. She said she'd only charge me $100/month, so I can save up, and asked that I help out with her kiddos and when her new baby boy makes his arrival in July. So I took her offer :) I'm mostly moved out of my apartment, and it's a bittersweet feeling. Seeing as there's a ton of memories here and I've been here for almost 4 years. But it's time to move forward in my life, so I'm willing to do whatever it is I need to do, to get where I want to be.

Now about Kenna...I had to make a really quick decision to take her with me or find her a good home. Becca already has a few pets and with everything that'll be taking place this year for me, I decided it better to find her a new home. I put an ad on KSL (Utah's news website) yesterday, and within the first hour I had 5 missed calls! I gave her away, for free, to a nice couple who already have 4 bunnies and seemed to love her as soon as they laid eyes on her. She seemed to take a liking to them too. I kinda miss her now, but I know I made the right decision and I hope she'll be super happy in her new home :)

In other news, I HATE moving all my stuff from one place to another. It's so tedious and it made me realize how much crap I had. I threw out about half of my belongings! By next week, at this time, I'll be in my new bedroom not stressing out as much :) I'm so very thankful for the wonderful, loving & caring people in my life. I appreciate all that they do. Sorry for ranting, but I just wanted to let everyone know what was going on. Hope you're all having a great week so far!

Valentine's Day & Other Things

Valentine's Day
It was a fun day, even though Christian wasn't here. He still spoiled me too. (I would've rather had him here though.) He got me a box of truffles and dark chocolates from See's...and a vase of pink carnations, balloons, and a teddy bear :) I was really surprised when I got the flowers haha. Holly and I went to see The Vow and it was a pretty good movie, a lot like The Notebook. All in all, it was a good day and I made the best of it :)

Moving To Bakersfield
Christian and I talked about this the other night, and I've decided to put it on hold until this summer. I don't have a guaranteed job there, nor a car...so I'm gonna stay in Ogden a little while longer until I save up enough for a down payment. It'll be hard still being long distant, but we've been doing this for 6 months now and we're still as strong as ever :) I'll for sure be visiting in June, for my bday though! And Christian will more than likely be visiting me next month!!

Taxes/Extra Money!
So I finally got my tax return last week, a whopping $800! I also got my bonus from work (2 months later), and I was able to put most of it aside into savings :) Yay for a good, steady job and the benefits that come with it...even though I may want to pull my hair out at times :)

I hope everyone is having a great week and everything is going good! Here's a few pics below:

Recently cut my hair...and actually got it dyed today. I'll post pics later! It's A LOT darker!

Bri, Marissa and I at the WSU Basketball game...they painted themselves purple for school spirit haha
The flowers and chocolates Christian got for me on V-Day :) I sent him a cute card with a gift card :) He out-did me lol
My love and I back in October :) My great friend, Nancy, sent me a cute V-Day card with this pic! She and her hubby came with us to Disneyland that day!

Random Thoughts

I've decided to write a post about random things that have been going through my mind recently...

--New favorite TV shows: Criminal Minds and Alcatraz. I really want to visit Alcatraz in San Fran now.

--Bacon. NOT a huge fan of it. Why are people putting it on cupcakes and other things that shouldn't have bacon on it?? All I have to say is disgusting.

--Shutterfly. This website is amazing. You can put together a photo album, calendar, card, etc. with your own photos. It's not too pricey and it makes for a great, personalized gift :)

--My Future. It belongs to me and those whom I choose to have in it. I have my own ambitions and will do what I need to do to reach those. I am my own boss, and will do my own thing. I'm very curious, but exuberant to see what my future brings. All I know is that I see Christian in it and a family :)

--Ogden, Utah. This has been my home for some time now, and I'm starting to feel it's no longer a home to me. I cannot wait to move back to California. I'm ready to move on with my life and be closer to Christian and my family & friends.

--Taxes. I STILL have yet to get my W2 form in the mail. It's really starting to piss me off, because I need to get my taxes filed. Hopefully I'll get it before the deadline, Feb. 1st.

Christmas 2011 & Vegas Trip!!!

Christmas 2011!!!
I was fortunate enough to go home to Bakersfield for Christmas this year and spend it with all the people I love...well there were a few who couldn't make it...but I was able to spend it with my family and my love. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures on Christmas day :( On Christmas Eve, we did our little family tradition of a Christmas program focusing on Christ's birth with wonderful and uplifting Christmas hymns. It was really nice, and I'm so lucky for the family I have. I'm actually very grateful for ALL the people in my life. Even co-workers and acquaintances :) I got some very nice and thoughtful gifts. The two gifts I loved the most was a kindle fire that Christian and his parents got for me...and the other was a book that Monica made online, full of great photos of our family (that Christian took over Thanksgiving vacation)! Here's a photo of the awesome gifts I got:

Christian got me: a cute purple stocking filled with candy, new skull candy headphones!, a candle, lots of lip smackers :), nail polish, gift cards, a cloth for the kindle's screen...a kindle fire, the last 3 books in the Harry Potter series!, and a cute frame with a photo of us on our first date :)
Monica & Shelby got me: a super cute gray sweater, a photo book of family photos :), the 2nd book in the Hunger Games series!, and adorable earrings!
Georgina (Monica's mom) got me: slippers, a bath set, a cute watch bracelet, and lotion :)
Diana (a good friend from work) got me: a digital photo frame key chain! and candy :)
Christian's brother, Javier, got me: a book on saving money... :)
Nancy got me: an adorable ruffled purple scarf and a cute photo album!

Vegas Trip!!!
The day after Christmas, Christian and I drove to Vegas. I had a really fun time there! All we really did was walk around EVERYWHERE, take photos and eat out at fabulous restaurants. We even gambled a few times...don't worry, all I gambled was $1.00! At one point I had made over $4.00, but I continued to gamble that. Needless to say, gambling isn't for me. The reason for this is because I would probably become addicted to it :( But all in all, Vegas was fun and adventurous (I've only been there twice now lol). There are photos posted below! I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and loved ones.

Christian and I at the Hard Rock Cafe :)
In the Cosmopolitan casino...it was super fancy in there!
Some huge heel in the Cosmopolitan casino/mall
The view of New York New York from the Strip

Holly Jolly Christmas

Wow, I can't believe Christmas is only in 2 weeks! I'll be flying home to spend it with my family and Christian :) I also got to go home for Thanksgiving (first time since 2006!). I got to see my cute little niece, Eliana, for the first time and she's a cutie. Christian took family photos for us. He is really very talented at photography :) I've got all my Christmas shopping done, well I have two more gifts to get, but I'm thinking I'll just get those when I go home to Bakersfield for Christmas. Below are a few photos from the last little bit. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and not stressing themselves out too badly.

You Get Me...

Sorry that it's been a while since I've posted something on here. I have quite a bit to update you all on though! Back in August, I started talking to a really great guy who I've actually known since Jr. High and High School. His name is Christian Parra, but he goes by Chris :) We'd talked previously before, but just as friends on FB and whatnot. He took the time to really get to know me and we found that we had quite a lot in common. So we continued talking and getting to know each other, and he drove all the way up here from Bakersfield in October to see me (we hadn't seen each other since high school). The whole weekend he was up here went so great! We hit it off and decided we wanted to make things official, we could feel that we had a really strong connection even more so in person. So a week after that, we went on a cruise with his family. I had gotten my passport (which is a whole other story lol), and I had gotten the time off of work. I hadn't been on a REAL relaxing vacation in years! The weekend I flew back home, he met my family and I met his. Monica and Ezra met him the first night I was back, and as soon as he left, Monica told me she approved! It seems that Shelby took a liking to him too! I met his family Sunday and he told me they really liked me, even though it was kind of hard to talk to them (they speak mostly Spanish--but it's a good thing, so I can practice more). He also met my grandma Pat that Sunday and she seemed to take a liking to him! The cruise was so much fun! There was so much food, and lots of entertainment...even in just watching others dance around haha. We talked a lot on the cruise and told each other how we feel and that we see a future together. We have the same goals, have a really strong connection, love each other and want the same things! He even wants to get married in the temple with me :) Long story short, I'm moving back to Bakersfield this Spring and I'll more than likely live with my family until we plan to get married. I'd move sooner, except for my one-year lease for my apartment isn't up until March. I'm a little nervous to move back, because I've lived on my own for so long and I'm afraid it'll be hard for me to find another great job, like the one I've had here for the last 5+ years. I've prayed about everything, and I know that's what I'm supposed to do right now. Plus, my family's there along with Chris and some great friends from high school. We don't plan on living there forever, just temporarily. We'd like to move to the coast or to Texas, for his career, at a later date. I've already told my family and most of my friends our plans and they seem really happy for me! I couldn't ask for a better guy. He really makes me happy, wants the best for me, brings out the best in me, understands me, loves me for who I am, and he's just an all-around great guy! He's caring, loving, smart, he can make me laugh, and is very patient with me. I think the fact that he wanted to get to really know me, took the time, and really understands me is the reason I fell in love with him. I understand him too, we think similarly :) It's so crazy to think that just 4 months ago I'd given up on ever finding anyone and didn't care about dating anymore...it's like they say, "It happens when you least expect it." and "When you know, you just know." It's kind of mind-boggling to me, because it happened so fast and I've known him since we were both 12! It's a long-distance relationship for the next 5-6 months, but I know we're both strong and it'll just strengthen our relationship even more!

A Few Random Thoughts:

--The title of this blog is a song by Michelle Branch that reminds me of Chris :)
--Today was the first snow fall of the winter, and it's freezing outside!
--I wanna go on another cruise!
--I really miss Chris, as I'm posting this blog :(
--I am SO grateful for Skype so I can chat with him!
--I'm grateful for my family and for everything they do for me!
--I miss my brother and sister too. But I get to see them this month for Thanksgiving :)
--I also get to see my niece, Ellie!
--New Favorite TV show: Once Upon A Time
--I just bought Kelly Clarkson's newest CD and it's really good...but why are most of her songs sad and depressing?? :(
--Breaking Dawn Part 1 comes out this month! Chris says he'll take me to see it when I'm in town, woot! Can't wait! The fourth book is my favorite :)

Photos:

The weekend he came up, we all went to a Haunted Circus in Draper...it was lots of fun! (From left to right: Steve, Andrea, Marissa, Seth, me, Chris, Bri and Chris)

That weekend we spent a lot of time out and about...we went to Ikea and the Gateway in SLC. As we were passing the Build-A-Bear there and I told him I'd never been inside the store or gotten one. He said we should go look around and then he told me to pick one out, so I picked out this super soft bunny :) Since there's a birth certificate for the bunny, we named her Skie (Sky)! He's such a sweet guy! :)

On a boat that took us to Catalina Island...on the cruise :) Me and Chris!

The huge ship we were on...Paradise Carnival ship :)

Again, on Catalina Island :) Me and Chris!

On the cruise. This was Tuesday night, before we went to dinner at the fancy Elation restaurant. We had to dress up--it was mandatory!

On Wednesday night goofing around and taking pictures on top of the ship :)

In line for the Star Wars 3D ride, at Disneyland :) Yes, we went to Disneyland RIGHT after the cruise!
